FAQ
Useful Information
Where is the Vegetarian Cycling & Athletic Club based?
Although our membership is largely based in the UK, we have also had members in the USA & Canada, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, Iceland, Australia and the Channel Islands.
We welcome applications from all those who wish to share their vegetarian lifestyle and their enjoyment in all true sports - participants or supporters - with first, second, and no claim, and from all around the globe.
Do I have to be a Vegetarian or Vegan to be able to be a member?
In short, yes. As a minimum, we require our members to follow The Vegetarian Society definition of a vegetarian - "A vegetarian does not eat any meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish or by-products of slaughter.”
Does the Club have a Constitution?
What does 'First Claim' or 'Second Claim' affiliation mean?
Relevant for Runners (or Athletes) only:
The Club is affiliated (registered) with England Athletics (EA), part of UK Athletics, for Road, Fell, Trail & Cross Country races. Whichever Club a runner is attached to first for that discipline is their 'First Claim' Club, and that runner will be assigned to that Club in the results.
eg. a runner can be a First Claim member of a Fell Running Club for Fell races and a Second Claim member in a different Club for Road Races.
If you've never been a member of an Athletic Club before, then you will automatically be a First Claim member when you join a club.
